Lorien Health Services Offers Free ‘Career Ladder’ Program with Advancement Opportunities

Ellicot City, M.d. (February 1, 2021)Lorien Health Services is offering free training, upfront education reimbursement and advancement opportunities for those who wish to build a new career in the healthcare field.

“The pandemic has hit certain industries hard. The hospitality industry lost an enormous number of jobs last year, while healthcare continues to grow and provide critical services,” said Lorien Health Services CEO Lou Grimmel, Sr. “Hospitality workers often possess many of the skills and traits we seek in the healthcare industry. If you have warmth, compassion and excellent people skills, we can put your talents to work in a meaningful career with plenty of advancement incentives and opportunities.”

JoAnn Presbitero, Lorien Health Services’ vice president of strategic initiatives, said Lorien’s geriatric nursing assistant training program is free, and prepares workers for a fulfilling career with full-time benefits and competitive pay. Lorien recently established its ‘Career Ladder’ program with the goal of quickly training and developing candidates so they can progress their careers in the healthcare industry.

“We’re so excited to launch this program, since it provides a meaningful career path from temporary nursing aide all the way up to licensed practical nurse and registered nurse,” said Susan Carroll, Lorien Health Services’ vice president of clinical services and program instructor. “Candidates do not need prior experience to take advantage of the program, which includes free training and upfront tuition reimbursement.”

“We are proud to announce 10 students – who started as temporary nursing aides – have already progressed to the next step of the ladder and are ready to be mentored for working with patients,” added Presbitero. The next two classes offered on February 23 and March 2 have already reached capacity.

As a family-owned company, Lorien makes staff and resident safety their top priority. Lorien’s facilities surpass all safety mandates. Lorien was recently voted “Best Elder Care” company in The Baltimore Sun and “Best Assisted Living Facility” in The Daily Record. It was also named a “Health Care Hero” by The Daily Record for its advancements in nursing care and received the top recognition nationally in McKnight’s “Excellence in Technology Awards” for its emphasis on quality care.

“We recognize other industries have been forced to lay off staff because of the pandemic, and hope to partner with local restaurant and hospitality associations to offer this opportunity to put people back to work,” Grimmel said. “However, we welcome anyone who has a passion for helping others and a willingness to learn.”
